Celebrating Our 8 Year Wedding Anniversary at Chart House Portland

Hii!!!!

I have been so freaking excited to write this post since it happened last month (February). However, I am also a bit saddened by the fact that we didn’t really take many photos because we were running late and it was cold outside. Really wanted to show you guys my banging new dress as well but again, not many great photos. 😦

We usually try to do something every month to celebrate our monthiversary, which gives us an excuse to have hassle free date nights. Occasionally we will splurge, but this was our first time fine dining.

Earlier that week I convinced Alex to dress fancy with me and we headed to the mall. We literally only walked into Macy’s and it was a done-deal from the start. It was so nice shopping together for once!

I helped him pick out a button up shirt in his favorite shade of blue and then I came across some vests. I sighed and said “it’s too bad you don’t like to wear these” and he surprised me by saying, “well let me try it on first”. *heart eyes* you guys!

As you can see I did my best to find a dress to match his shirt and succeeded it! 😀 I think he looked so good in that vest too! As for my dress, I got it from the Jr section where all the prom dresses are at.
It was the perfect style and fit!

Obviously it looks different on me than on the model, but it’s a dress from Emerald Sundae and it is styled with a lacey racer-back and a split asymmetrical hem, which I loved. The v-neck wasn’t too daring but made me feel sexy nonetheless.

Okay, onto the restaurant chosen: Chart House. It’s a fine dining restaurant that serves seafood and steak and is famous for their amazing views of the Willamette. I simply must go back for photos and a full review for you guys lol. I had looked for about two weeks for a nice place and came across this restaurant days prior and booked a table for us Saturday the 22nd at 7:30pm. When we arrived they had valet parking and we waited no more than 10 minutes before we got seated.

We didn’t really get a nice view from where we were seated, and the lighting wasn’t the best for photos, but the atmosphere and almost “candle-lit” vibe really made it super romantic. So, I apologize for the crappy, low-light photos I’m about to show you of the food we ate. But first: we took photos of one another before we got our food:

We got salad with our entrees and I cannot remember which one it was, I could not find the name of it on their menu nor could I find what drinks we had gotten either. 😦 Even so, the salad was good, and the dressing was perfect. We also got the most amazing bread to go with it, I really wish I could have gotten the name of it. 😦 Sorry I really suck lol.

So here are our entrees. I ordered their Mahi which was topped with avocado pico de gallo and a side of the creamiest, most heavenly, garlic mashed potatoes with roasted asparagus and cherry tomatoes. Seriously the best I have ever had!

Alex ordered their Paneed Chicken which was Romano panko crusted with the same sides as mine. The creamy substance around the chicken I believe was some sort of citrus butter(?) that tasted AMAZINGG!!!! The chicken was cooked perfectly and was juicy.

We each had a bite of the other’s and we could not stop saying “oh my gosh, this is so good”. It truly was. It was our first time fine dining and we could not believe our taste buds!! I highly recommend you guys fine dine at least once in your lives. The flavors of the foods melded well together and everything was cooked to perfection. We can only dream of attaining this level of genius at home, but we sure can try lol.

Our server got one photo of us together (^^) before getting our check. Then we headed back home to our munchkin. I had forgotten to take Alex’s gift with me so I had to give it to him when we got back. Best ending to a perfect night.

Alex was surprised and grateful for what I had gotten. I got some capsules for secret messages. I stayed up the night before to finish writing in them. I did my best to make sure they were all different. 🙂

I got these capsules from Amazon as well as the “One Question a Day for You & Me” three-year couple’s journal. I felt like doing an activity like this would bring us closer and to my amazement, it kind of did. It has become a thing we enjoying doing together before bedtime, and it also gives us time to reflect on the day. ❤

As a bonus, I found a deep photo frame at the dollar store with lots of loose gold foil stars. I printed out our most recent photos from our winter photoshoot for it. I always smile inside at the thought of having been together for nearly 10 years and how we love each more than we did back then. ❤ ❤ ❤

I had such an amazing night with the love of my life. Getting to go out like this, just the two of us, reminds me of how much I enjoy his company and how, despite the challenges that come our way, I wouldn’t trade him for anyone else in this world. ❤ Well, I’ll stop here before I get all emotional lol.

    1. Thanks so much lovely!! I had an amazing night 😁 and it’s funny that we matched, when we first met he didn’t like matching much but then came around and starting doing it with me so it’s kind of like this running joke of but at the same time it’s kind of sweet that he’s open to it you know? Lol
And thank you!! I love this shade of blue and I let my husband pick because it’s his favorite color 😁
Awh thanks! I like to give, I wasn’t sure he would be into the gifts but he is and that makes me happy.

      1. Matching outfits once in a while is cute! You’re right, it is very sweet that he’s open to it 🙂 Blue is a great colour to wear, I have a ton of blue jumpers haha – I think it’s because I tend to wear black pants and like to mix the colours up so I’m not all in black. It’s the thought that counts with gifts, not how much money is spent on them.

      2. We went to a Mexican restaurant nearby for our first time back out & ever since, we’ve been to a couple more lol. I am trying to forget all about the coronavirus now. I will just wash my hands loads & wear a mask in big crowds. Otherwise, I’m done worrying!
